Dear Friends in Prevention,
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your love and support throughout our 33 years of breast cancer prevention work. Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) is currently facing one of the most challenging years in our history as an organization, and we need your help to get through these unprecedented times to continue our important community education and advocacy work.
Not too long ago, MBCC faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, but thanks to your strength, compassion, and unwavering support, we persevered. We never imagined we would find ourselves in an even more difficult situation so soon, and today, we ask for that same compassion to help us continue our vital mission.
Did you know that only around 5-10% of breast cancers are caused by inherited mutations to the tumor suppressor genes BRCA1 and BRCA2? MBCC’s goal is to educate and raise public awareness of the environmental exposures that can increase an individual’s risk for breast cancer and other diseases. Our community outreach work to improve environmental health education and advocacy to reduce exposures to toxic chemicals is contributing to breast cancer prevention across Massachusetts and beyond. We need your help now more than ever to ensure our important education and advocacy programs continue.
MBCC’s “Let’s Talk Prevention” program is critical for improving public health knowledge and awareness of how environmental exposures to chemicals impact health. We have always made our award-winning educational resources highly accessible, including our free student modules and tips to reduce toxic exposures, available in 11 different languages. We also have a webinar series featuring brilliant scientists and health professionals whose informative talks about cancer research, advocacy, and equity are available for free on our website. Your financial support will help us sustain these programs and reach more communities throughout Massachusetts. Your support also helps us uphold our commitment to environmental justice, ensuring we reach communities that are most vulnerable to heavier environmental burdens.
You have been so generous to MBCC throughout the years, and our critical public health work is made possible thanks to YOU. Please consider supporting this appeal and donating today to protect the future health of our children, grandchildren, and future generations.
With gratitude and sincerity,

Cheryl Osimo
