Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition will be holding its annual, statewide Against the Tide multi-sport events again in 2019. Proceeds benefit MBCC’s program work, including the Let’s Talk Prevention community education program, the MBCC Webinar Series, and Let’s Talk Prevention: Actions You Can Take environmental health program for high school students.
Set against the backdrop of two beautiful state parks, Against the Tide offers something for all outdoor enthusiasts. Participants can enjoy pristine beaches and water locales for the ½-mile paddleboard, competitive 1-mile swim, 1-mile and ½ mile recreational swims, and 2-mile kayak events, as well as tree-lined rolling paved courses for both the USATF certified 5K and 10K runs, and the 3-mile fitness walk. All ages and abilities are welcome to choose from up to 4 of these exciting activities. The event also offers an Aquathon “Splash and Dash” component, where participants “splash” in the competitive 1-mile swim and immediately “dash” in 5K or 10K run (chosen by the participant).
Participants may register as an individual or as part of a team. Registration is $40 per adult per event activity and $25 per student per event activity. Participants are encouraged to fundraise beyond these suggested minimums, as all proceeds support Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition’s unique goal towards breast cancer prevention. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest swim, run, and Aquathon athletes, top age-group finishers, and top fundraisers.
