The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition has requested $375,000 in state funding for sister organization Silent Spring Institute so that they can expand their research on drinking water on Cape Cod and in Southeastern Massachusetts. The House budget was recently released, and Silent Spring Institute was not included. Representative Sarah Peake will be filing an amendment for the inclusion of this $375,000.

WHAT TO DO:
Please contact your State Representatives, and ask them to sign on to Rep. Peake’s amendment for Silent Spring Institute to expand their research on drinking water throughout Massachusetts. Tell them that you deserve safe drinking water! Remember that you can make a change for the better. Take a minute to take action toward your health and the health of future generations. Thank you for your help.

Here are some key points you can include in your email message or phone call if you choose, although of course you are always welcome to tailor your own message.

* As a Mass. state citizen, I am very concerned about the presence of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) and other contaminants in our state’s drinking water.
* I am concerned that EDCs may be linked to an increased risk of breast cancer and other disorders.
* Because my health and the health of my family is important to me, I do not want to drink water that maybe contaminated with EDCs.
* Please sign onto Rep. Peake’s amendment for Silent Spring Institute’s water research.
