Ali Crockett has a very personal reason to want to prevent breast cancer. In 2001, her sister was diagnosed with the disease, and Ali went on to become involved with the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC). Since then, 10 more of Ali’s friends have been diagnosed, making it all too clear to her that breast cancer truly is an epidemic.
Ali began her support of MBCC by participating in the annual Against the Tideswim, kayak, walk, or run fundraising event, and she is now a Statewide Chairwoman of the event. This year will be Ali’s 12th completing the open water swim. She has already raised over $1,000 for the August 17th event. Her team “Do It Now!” has raised over $3,000.
On her event fundraising page, Ali says, “I believe some day we will live in a healthier place where breast cancer is no longer an epidemic. We can do something and we can do it now. Thank you for your support either by donation, time, talent, or prayers. I will bring you with me with every kick along the mile swim.”
We invite you to support Against the Tide by making a pledge to Ali or by participating in the event at DCR’s Nickerson State Park on August 17th:
