By learning to swim, I have been able to help many people close to me. The first occasion that I was able to help someone was when I saved my mother from drowning at a local swimming pool. The second time was when I saved my friend from drowning at a camp pool. Through these experiences, I have helped my family and friends with my swimming skills. As of now, I have even been competitively swimming for several years on a gold medal ranked swim team.
Currently I have joined a meaningful fundraising event by swimming for the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC). The money I raise for this worthwhile organization will help more people than just my friends and family; it will possibly be able to help thousands more.
A breast cancer diagnosis affects many families worldwide. Personally, I honor Mrs. Grace, a highly respected family friend, through my participation in Against the Tide. She had breast cancer and underwent huge difficulties for many years. I often open my family album and flip to pictures that show me a day after my birth and I can’t help but thank Mrs. Grace and all those who came to visit and give me great blessings. To pass those blessings on, to keep on blessing people and to wish her all the best, I will swim and kayak for this event on August 17th.
I hope you will consider helping me in this meaningful event. Please support my fundraising efforts towards breast cancer prevention. Any amount, small or large, would mean a lot to me and to the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition. You can support me by pledging an amount on my webpage:
You can also register to be part of my team, or register to participate as an individual or as your own start-up team:
There are many ways that you also can help support the state’s leading breast cancer organization toward its goal of breast cancer prevention. Remember that volunteers are always welcome for the event, and help with spreading the news via social media is also greatly appreciated. Register for Against the Tide being held on June 22nd in Hopkinton and on August 17th in Brewster. Learn more at www.mbcc.org/swim.
It’s important for everyone, which includes teachers, students, parents, and the everyday citizen to be informed about this consequential disease. Help prevent breast cancer from touching the lives of so many.
