Webinar Recording: The Breast Cancer Exposome: Uncovering the Role of Environmental Chemicals in Breast Cancer Etiology

Dr. Alexandra White is an environmental epidemiologist whose research focuses on identifying modifiable environmental exposures linked to cancer risk, particularly breast cancer. Her work examines how pollutants like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and metals contribute to breast carcinogenesis, leveraging large-scale studies such as the Long Island Breast Cancer Study Project and the Sister Study. She also investigates the role of epigenetics as a biomarker and potential mechanistic link between environmental exposures and cancer. Dr. White earned her M.S.P.H. and Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the NIEHS. She has been a Tenure-Track Investigator with the NIEHS Epidemiology Branch since 2019.
