Webinar Recording: Cancer is an Inflammatory Disease

Dr. Linda Malkas is the Associate Chair and a professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where she co-founded and continues to co-lead the Molecular Oncology Program since 2011. Previously, she was a Professor of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where she co-founded and co-led the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center’s Breast Cancer Research Program and established the Signature Center for Breast Cancer Research. Dr. Malkas has published over 75 peer-reviewed articles, presented at numerous national and international scientific meetings, and served on various NIH and DOD grant review study sections. She is a member of the Editorial Boards for several journals, including Cancer Research and Cancer Prevention Research, and has been on the DOD Ovarian Cancer Research Program Integration Panel since 2011. Additionally, she serves as an external advisor for multiple cancer centers, holds over 23 U.S. and international patents, and has received numerous awards throughout her career. Her major research focus is the relationship between DNA replication and cancer, and her laboratory’s recent work has opened opportunities to develop selective therapeutic agents that inhibit proteins uniquely expressed by cancer cells.
