VICTORY: P&G Stops Using Diethyl Phthalate and Triclosan in Products!

After extended pressure from consumers, Proctor & Gamble has announced that they will stop using two toxic chemicals, diethyl phthalate (DEP) and triclosan, in their personal care products. P & G is a multinational corporation owning several name brands including Crest, Head & Shoulders, Covergirl, Herbal Essences, Pantene, Olay, and more. This is a major victory for product safety!

Reformulations like this show that consumer actions can make a difference. Stay informed, choose only the safest products for yourself and your family and send letters to your favorite brands if they don’t yet offer safe choices.

Unfortunately, while we love to hear these commitments from businesses, we still lack regulations to enforce these promises. Visit our Policy & Legislation page to learn about the Safe Cosmetics Act and how it would further protect the health of citizens across the U.S.
