Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the state parks?

DCR's Hopkinton State Park is located on Route 85 in Hopkinton, MA. DCR's Nickerson State Park is located at 3488 Main Street, Route 6A in Brewster, MA. For detailed directions to both locations, click here.

Is parking available at the events?

Yes, plenty of free parking is available at DCR's Hopkinton State Park and at DCR's Nickerson State Park. Once inside the parks, just follow the Against the Tide signs to the parking lot and beach area.

Are there bathroom facilities at the state parks?

Yes, bathroom facilities are located in both parks right at the swim site.

Can I participate in both the Hopkinton and Cape Cod events?

Yes, you may participate in both events.  However you must register and commit to the $150 contribution for each event. At each Against the Tide event day, participants can choose to enter one, two or three activities.

Do I have to register in advance to participate in Against the Tide?

All participants, regardless of age, are asked to register by June 17 for the Hopkinton event and August 19 for the Cape Cod event.

For safety reasons and space limitations, we strongly encourage all participants to pre-register, however walk-ins are welcome.

Is there an age limit for participating in against the tide?

No, MBCC encourages families to participate. We encourage all family members to pre-register regardless of age. We are especially touched by the efforts of the young. Although many of our young participants enjoy their own fundraising, we realize that some children do not. For those children under the age of 18, MBCC allows them to be included under a parent or guardian's minimum contribution of $150. All participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a parent or guardian's signature in order to participate.

Can strollers be used on the walk trail?

The answer is YES to both event locations. DCR's Nickerson State Park location is stroller accessible, however the road sections do have car traffic, so walkers must use caution

Where can I get a pledge sheet?
