Event Activities Information
NEW FOR 2012 – AQUATHLON
Starting at 8:00 am the aquathlon begins with the competitive 1 mile swim. Immediately following the competitive 1 mile swim, aquathlon participants will transition to the 5K or 10K run component.
RUN
Our 5-K run in both Hopkinton and Brewster consists of either a competitive or recreational run and begins at 8 a.m. on paved, stroller or wheelchair friendly paved roadways within each of the state parks. The routes, depicted in the map linked above, are clearly marked. While a time clock is available at the start/finish of the run at both venues for all runners to time themselves, only the top 10 finishers will have their race times captured by event officials and listed on our event website post-event.
WALK
Our 3-Mile walk in both Hopkinton and Brewster begins at 8:10 a.m. on paved, stroller or wheelchair friendly roadways within each of the state parks. The routes are depicted in the map linked above.
SWIM
Our 1-Mile swim event consists of either a competitive heat at 8:30 a.m. or a recreational heat at 9:30. The routes are depicted in the map linked above. In Hopkinton, the route consists of one lap around a portion of the Hopkinton Reservoir for those participating in the competitive swim and 2 laps around a smaller and a more shallow route for those participating in the recreational swim. In Brewster, both the competitive and recreational swim routes are 1 lap around the perimeter of Flax Pond. See these training tips to assist you in your preparations. All swimmers will be in proximity to a safety kayak should the need for help arise. While time clock is available on the beach at both events for all swimmers to time themselves, only times for the top 10 participants in the competitive swim are captured by event officials and listed on our website post-event.
KAYAK
Our 2-Mile kayak event begins at 10:30 a.m. There are a number of complimentary kayaks available to our participants by our generous sponsors. However, this is a very popular event and to be guaranteed use of a provided kayak, you must register as early as possible to be assigned one. Outdoor Recreation is our Hopkinton kayak sponsor and Goose Hummock is our Cape kayak sponsor. After all the complimentary kayaks have been reserved, you will need to bring your own kayak and we will assist you in loading/unloading. In fact, we encourage anyone who has their own kayak to bring it for their own use at ATT. The kayak routes are depicted in the map linked above. In Hopkinton, the route consists of two laps around a portion of the Hopkinton Reservoir. In Brewster, kayak route is 2 laps around the perimeter of Flax Pond.
A complimentary kayak cinic is offered by Outdoor Recreation for anyone registered for Against the Tide. Learn more…
