Boating in Boston teams up again with MBCC

Michael Aghajanian, owner of Boating in Boston is teaming up with the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC), the state’s largest breast cancer organization. Boating in Boston is helping raise money for breast cancer prevention by supporting MBCC’s 23rd annual statewide Against the Tide Multisport Event on June 20 at Hopkinton State Park. Each year, Michael Aghajanian has made the two-mile kayak component of the event possible by graciously providing kayaks and staff to assist with the event from start to finish.

Cheryl Osimo, MBCC Executive Director, says: “Michael’s generosity in making it possible for the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition to have a kayak component at the upcoming statewide athletic event for the past numerous years is truly impressive. As an entrepreneur businessman, Michael’s kind heart and understanding for the need of cancer prevention is evident and is helping MBCC toward our goal of the prevention of cancer.”

“We are very fortunate to have such tremendous support from citizens of Massachusetts demanding greater protection of their children’s future health in our effort to stop breast cancer before it starts,” says MBCC’s Executive Director Cheryl Osimo.

“MBCC often is overshadowed by larger, national breast cancer organizations and messages of early detection, treatment, and finding a cure. We depend on our generous media and supporters to continue our unique goal of breast cancer prevention.”

DSC00010These family-friendly and inspirational events bring people from all demographics together with one goal in mind: breast cancer prevention. Both events consist of several components: competitive and recreational swims, recreational kayak, recreational walk, and competitive and recreational runs. Participants of all ages and abilities can choose 1, 2, or 3 of these exciting activities. The event also offers an Aquathon “Splash and Dash” component, where participants “splash” in the competitive 1-mile swim and immediately “dash” in the competitive 5K or 10K run (chosen by the participant).

MBCC is inviting people throughout Massachusetts to register for one or both of the events at www.mbcc.org/swim or by calling 617-376-MBCC (6222). Those who cannot attend are invited to make a pledge to a registered participant or existing team. Participants may register as an individual or as part of a team, and are encouraged to fundraise $175 ($100, if a team member). All proceeds support the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition.
