Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about registration and fundraising:

What percentage of the funds I raise go toward the cost of this event?

Because of the generosity of our wonderful sponsors, the cost of our event is 100% covered. Every dollar you raise goes to MBCC’s work toward breast cancer prevention!

Do I have to register in advance to participate?

For safety reasons and space limitations, we strongly encourage all participants to register online before the events. Online pre-registration closes at 12pm the Friday before each event. However, walk-ins are welcome at the registration tent on the morning of the event, rain or shine. Walk-ins need to pay at the time of registration. MBCC accepts cash, check or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

Can I participate in both Against the Tide events? (Hopkinton & Brewster)

Yes, you may participate in both events. You will need to register for Against the Tide – Hopkinton and Against the Tide – Brewster separately, and you can select to participate in up to 4 events per location. The minimum amounts for participation in event activities are $40 per participant per event activity and $25 per student per event activity. The registration fee for the USMS Sanctioned Swim is $60 – please note that there is no student discount available for the sanctioned swim.

Do I have to reserve a paddleboard or kayak in advance?

Out of respect for our generous paddleboard and kayak sponsors and all they do to make this event possible, we must ensure that we only reserve as many kayaks as are needed for the event. At the time of registration, please indicate whether you will need to reserve a paddleboard or kayak (single or tandem) or whether you will be bringing your own. Paddleboards and kayaks will be available to reserve on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What is a designated participant?
